What to expect from reaching out to first sessions... and everything in between

Starting therapy doesn’t have to be overwhelming.

The first step is reaching out

Let’s find out if we’re a good fit

We offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to help determine if working together feels like a good fit. During this call, we’ll talk briefly about what’s bringing you to therapy, what you’re hoping to explore, and answer any questions you might have about the process, our approach, or practical details like scheduling and fees. There’s no pressure—just a chance to connect and see if it feels supportive.

If it makes sense to move forward, we’ll schedule your first session. This is a chance to ease in. We’ll ask questions to better understand your story, your current challenges, and your goals for therapy. Before we meet, you’ll receive a few intake forms to complete through a secure online portal. The goal of this session isn’t to dive into everything at once. It’s to help you feel heard, supported, and more grounded about what’s next.

Early sessions are about building trust and our therapeutic relationship

We’ll go at your pace, and begin where you are

In our first few sessions, we’ll begin exploring the patterns, emotions, and experiences that brought you to therapy. We’ll talk about what’s been feeling stuck, what’s shifting, and what you want to work toward. These sessions are about building a strong foundation of safety and understanding while we clarify your goals and priorities.

Some sessions may feel focused and practical. Others may be more reflective or simply a space to breathe. We draw from a range of clinical tools and experience, but your voice, intuition, and pace lead the process. Our role is to support, challenge, and walk alongside you as you move through what’s hard and begin to create meaningful change.

Individual session fees vary by clinician and range from $120 to $220 per 50-minute session. We offer extended sessions where appropriate, and reserve a limited  number of reduced-fee spots. Feel free to ask about current availability.

We are not contracted with insurance providers and do not bill insurance directly. This is a conscious decision rooted in our belief that therapy is a personal, confidential relationship that shouldn’t be shaped by third-party involvement.

Submitting therapy claims to insurance requires a formal mental health diagnosis, and in some cases, allows your insurance company access to treatment dates and notes. For many of our clients (who are navigating life transitions, stress, or emotional overwhelm) this kind of labeling simply doesn’t fit.

We understand therapy is an investment. We’re happy to provide a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement and are always open to discussing options with you. We recommend starting by reaching out to your insurance to see what their reimbursement options look like.
